Looking Ahead: Navigating a Shifting Macroeconomic Climate
While the 60DB report reflects the immediate success of our Mozambique project, we remain keenly aware of the broader macroeconomic conditions that impact fundraising and investment. The past two years have been particularly challenging due to the ripple effects of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The war led to inflationary pressures and prompted central banks worldwide to raise interest rates in an effort to stabilize their economies.
For projects like Empowa, these higher interest rates made fundraising difficult, as investors required higher risk-adjusted returns. However, as we look ahead, we see promising signs of stabilization. Global interest rates are beginning to level off and, in some cases, even decline. This creates new opportunities for affordable housing investments, as the returns on projects like ours become more attractive to investors.
As the macroeconomic environment shifts, we are optimistic that the road ahead will be smoother for fundraising, enabling us to deliver even more impactful projects in the future.
